This 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L seats 7, comfortably! This Honda Pilot was freshened up for 2006 with subtle styling updates along with enhancements to some of the interior features. Enhanced safety in the form of three-row curtain air bags that come as standard equipment. Curtain airbags are important because they can provide head protection in an accident; head injuries are the leading cause of death in side impacts and rollovers. The Pilot is practical, efficient, reliable, and powerful. It's a crossover vehicle, so called because it's built on a car structure and drives more like a car than a truck, with crisp, predictable handling and a smooth ride. Capable of seating up to eight passengers, the Pilot is not a small vehicle. It's larger overall than a Toyota Highlander or Nissan Murano. A 3.5-liter V6 motivates the Pilot with 244-horsepower and is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. Yet the Pilot delivers impressive fuel economy thanks to a fuel-saving cylinder-deactivation system that disengages half the engine's cylinders when not required for acceleration or towing. 2007 honda odyssey review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Well designed, enjoyable to drive. introductionthe honda odyssey might be the best minivan on the market. It's certainly one of the most enjoyable to drive, and it lives up to honda's reputation for refinement, convenient features and great fit and finish. Its flexible seating system can accommodate up to eight passengers.  all odyssey models are powered by a 244-horsepower v6 engine with a five-speed automatic transmission. The base lx starts at about $26,000 and includes most of the features that make family travel easier. Certain desirable features such as the navigation system or fuel-saving variable cylinder management are included only on the higher-priced models and not available as stand-alone options. The system reports a significant drop in tire pressure with a warning indicator in the instruments and identifies the specific tire. Improvements for 2007 include a telescoping steering wheel and a more convenient coin holder. All are powered by a 244-hp 3. 5-liter v6 with variable valve timing and equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission.  the lx 25,645) comes with manual sliding doors, manual seat controls and manual air conditioning with an air-filtration system. Power door locks with remote keyless entry, power windows, and 60/40 split fold-down rear seats come standard.  the ex 28,695) adds power sliding doors, tri-zone climate control, a storable second-row plusone seat, in-dash cd changer, steering wheel audio controls, power driver seat controls, alloy wheels and other features.  the ex-l 31,095) adds leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power moonroof, and the ivtec engine with variable cylinder management (vcm), which improves fuel economy by de-activating three engine cylinders under certain conditions. It has a slightly stiffer suspension for improved handling and michelin pax run-flat tires. It also gets a 350-watt am/fm/cd6 audio system with seven speakers and a subwoofer, rear park assist, power tailgate, eight-way power adjustable driver's seat with lumbar and memory, power-adjustable pedals, second-row bucket seats, removable second-row console, 17 cupholders, compass and outside temperature display, fog lights, auto-dimming mirror, and the dvd rear-seat entertainment system. The navigation system is extra 39,095).  safety equipment that comes standard on all models includes dual-stage front airbags, front side-impact airbags, curtain-style head protection airbags for all three rows of seats, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes. walkaroundthe honda odyssey cuts a curvy profile, and its front end looks similar to the accord sedan. Large headlights flank its big grille. The hood is sculpted with curves that lead naturally back to the windshield and emphasize the big fender flares. Honda has not hidden the sliding door channels at the base of the window but left them partially obscured by a crease that runs the length of the vehicle.  all models come with two sliding doors, manually operated on the lx and electrically operated on all other models. The power windows in each of the side doors can be opened in the same fashion as in a car. The power doors seemed a bit reluctant to operate at times, and less responsive to key fob commands than the sliding doors on the toyota sienna.  the odyssey boasts honda's advanced compatibility engineering (ace) body structure. The vehicle's crush zones have been engineered to provide good protection for occupants while minimizing damage in a collision with smaller vehicles and pedestrians. Its body structure is rigid, which contributes to crisp handling and a smooth ride. A low drag coefficient helps improve fuel economy and high-speed stability. interiorinside, the odyssey is both comfortable and convenient. It feels downright luxurious when ordered with leather trim. The soft materials look good and the metallic-colored trim that runs across the center of the dash is attractive.  new for 2007: the honda odyssey is now equipped with a steering wheel that telescopes in addition to tilting. The telescoping wheel adds a welcome element of flexibility in creating a comfortable driving position. There's also a new center pocket coin holder.  the driver's seat is designed to hold the driver firmly and is positioned in a car-like setting. The shift lever is mounted on the dashboard, and while it looks odd at first, it's easier to use than a column-mounted shifter. A handy drink tray is provided between the front seats, but there's no center console. Two glove boxes are provided, which are more awkward for storage than one big one.  the second-row bucket seats are roomy and comfortable.  the third-row seat splits 60/40 and folds easily into the well provided for it, and the headrests do not need to be removed before folding.  a useful storage area is hidden under the middle of the floor, accessible from both the front and middle-row seats. Originally designed to house the spare tire, honda engineers moved the spare tire to a location in the rear. Instead of removing the round space under the floor where the spare used to reside, they've turned it into a hidden storage compartment with a rotating compartmentalized bin, like a lazy susan. A small panel in the floor between the two front seats lets front passengers access the bin while and another panel is provided in front of the second-row seats. Front and middle-row passengers can turn the lazy susan and access whatever is stored inside.  there's room for eight people with the optional plusone seat that fits between the two captain's chairs in the second row. If it's not needed as a seat it can be turned into a table or stowed in the floor in place of the lazy susan bin. If the plusone seat is not being used, the right-hand seat can be slid across to allow easier access to the third-row seats. This flexibility makes the odyssey a versatile people hauler, and with the seats folded (a fairly easy task) there's more cargo space than in most suvs.  the optional navigation system is one of the easiest to operate using its on-screen menus and includes zagat restaurant data. The large eight-inch monitor is positioned high on the dashboard for easy viewing. The system also responds to voice commands, and we found it responds effectively. It's capable of responding to 637 different voice commands and is smart enough to understand different accents and find locations without any need for input other than by voice. Apart from navigation, the system can be used to operate the radio and climate controls. The rearview camera makes parallel parking easier and also functions as a safety feature: by displaying what's behind the car on the navigation screen, it can show the driver unseen hazards such as a small child possibly preventing a tragic accident. We find rearview cameras very useful in crowded shopping center parking lots where people are walking behind the car after we've shifted into reverse.  the available dvd entertainment system features a large nine-inch widescreen display that folds out of the ceiling for viewing by second-row passengers. The wireless headsets turn on and off automatically as the ear pads are rotated. driving impressionhonda's goal with odyssey was producing a minivan with the handling of a european sedan, and it hasn't missed the mark by much. We found it pleasant around town or for long drives.  during a test drive along country roads near the honda factory in alabama, the odyssey offered a perfectly pleasant ride. It was neither too firm nor too soft. Granted, there is some road vibration. It was no worse than in a chrysler town & country, however, and it's a common trait of many large cars and most suvs. All in all, the honda odyssey is a good vehicle for a long-distance drive.  a few laps around a race track showed the odyssey to be stable at high speeds. We were surprised how much we could chuck it into corners. We could drive hard enough into a sharp corner to feel the tires slip without any drama. We could not feel much body roll (lean) in corners, and an odyssey lapping in front of us looked remarkably stable for a tall vehicle.  parking is easy. The turning radius is among th.

2003 honda element review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. So novel: can it really be a honda?. introductionthe honda element is one of those vehicles that elicits that great question: what's that? Some people hate the thought of driving a car that's the center of attention, but others find that's part of the thrill of owning a car that's different from other vehicles on the road.  honda is known for conservative styling, which is not a bad thing for the majority of people who are only looking for reliable and functional transportation. An optional all-wheel-drive system will be available half way through 2003. It's really a starting point, however, as it does not even come standard with a radio or air conditioning. A loaded ex model with automatic transmission and awd will top the price range at around $21,500. walkaroundthe new honda element is one funky looking car. Or is it a van?  when it was first shown as a concept car in 2001 nobody dreamed honda would be brave enough to bring it into production so quickly and certainly no one thought it would be sold in the u. Honda stuck with its radical concept, however, even down to the center-opening doors, an increasingly popular feature on full-size extended-cab pickup trucks.  what the suicide doors offer is great access to the rear of the vehicle from the sides with no b-pillars to get in the way. For safety reasons, the rear side doors cannot be opened unless the front door has already been opened first. Likewise they have to be closed before the front side doors can be closed. Moreover, front-seat occupants have to unbuckle their seatbelts before the rear doors can be opened as the front seatbelts are attached to the front edge of the closed rear doors.  from the front, the vehicle has a cheeky chunky look accentuated by rectangular headlights and the unusual design of the bumper. The side of the vehicle has a distinct shape unlike any other vehicle on american roads. The hood line is fairly low and leads to a vertical windshield that curves up to a roofline that sweeps back to an almost vertical rear tailgate.  the rear tailgate is split horizontally so that the lower half can be used as a seating surface for tailgate parties. From the rear the corners are nicely curved so that the element does not look as chunky from behind. Large 16-inch wheels help ensure the element doesn't look like a minivan. Plastic cladding runs along the lower half of the body to add character and protection from flying gravel. interiorversatility is the key word in the design of the honda element's interior. Honda spent a lot of time designing features with flexible utility first and foremost in mind.  that does not mean it scrimped on comfort or safety. On the contrary, the element has many of the safety features one would expect in a modern car. Side air curtains are an option. Honda designed the element to offer excellent crash protection.  the two rear seats are raised off the floor a couple of inches higher than the front seats so that rear seat passengers can actually look over the front seats for better visibility.  the center opening doors allow easy loading of bulky objects and once inside there is plenty of room for them. The rear seats fold down easily and for greater space they can be hooked up to the side leaving an uninterrupted flat floor space. The front passenger seat back can also be folded forward to make room for a 10-foot surfboard. (that would leave room for the driver and one passenger behind the driver.) the driver's seat as well as all the other seats can be folded back making for a large if uncomfortable double bed. When parked, the element can be set up to serve as a giant locker for surfboards and other large items.  the floor is covered in a urethane-coated material that resists water, dirt and scratches. It is easily cleaned. The seats (on all but the dx) are coated in a waterproof material designed for easy cleaning.  storage areas abound, including large storage pockets on the backs of the front seats. Cupholders can be found on the backs of folded seats.  the dashboard reflects the simple design elements of the element. The gauges are contained in three deep pods. The climate and radio controls are well placed. An innovative option is an auxiliary jack for plugging in an mp3 player so the stored music can be played back directly through the element's sound system. The system included with the ex is pretty decent and includes a large sub woofer beneath the dashboard. driving impressionthe honda element is basically a rebodied cr-v, so it is not surprising to find that it drives like one. Like the cr-v, the element is built on the same platform as the honda civic. This is a front-wheel-drive car so there is a touch of torque steer, that tugging of the steering wheel under hard acceleration, but nothing of real concern. We found the available automatic transmission to be less fun as it almost spoils the funky feel of the element. summarythe honda element is an attractive proposition for someone who wants a genuine utility vehicle that behaves like a car. There's no denying the utility of its versatile interior. And, in terms of driving dynamics, cars behave much better than trucks. Although archaic epa rules say the element is a truck, it's really a modern station wagon masquerading as a hip looking van. Looks are part of the attraction here. We found it appeals to people of all ages. model lineupdx 2wd; dx 4wd; ex 2wd; ex 4wd. assembled ineast liberty, ohio. options as testednone. model testedex 2wd.
